Fetal Cardiology

Fetal Cardiology involves the assessment of fetal cardiac health using an echocardiogram (echo). A fetal echocardiogram uses ultrasound based technology (sound waves) to evaluate the fetal heart. The fetal heart is assessed with the probe (camera) placed over the abdomen of the mother. Fetal echo is usually performed around 20-22 weeks of gestation and can diagnose structural heart issues as well as cardiac rhythm issues. Dr Moray is one of five certified fetal cardiologists in Qld and currently Dr Moray undertakes fetal cardiology evaluations only as public patients at the Gold Coast University Hospital MFM department.
